Music at Faith
All students in kindergarten through 8th grade participate in choir once per week. Teachers do some singing in their own classroom, but choir is dedicated class time taught by a music teacher.
In addition to weekly choir class, students in grades 3-8 have a weekly instrument class. Third and 4th grade students learn the recorder, 5th/6th graders learn ukulele, and 7th/8th graders learn hand bells.
Students in 1st - 8th grade perform a Christmas musical and sing for the congregation of Faith Lutheran Church twice during the school year. Kindergarten - 8th graders finish the school year with a spring concert. In addition, all 5th-8th grade students have the opportunity to participate in choir, vocal ensemble/solo, and piano/instrumental ensemble/solo during Lutheran Elementary Schools Tournament each February at Concordia University, Portland.
Private Piano Lessons
We are blessed to have a piano teacher with over thirty years of experience offer private piano lessons to those students who are interested. These half-hour weekly lessons are arranged during the school day.
